Volunteer Coordinator
Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the Meals on Wheels Coordinator include assisting with organizing meal routes and recruiting and managing volunteers. Public relations or fundraising experience needed. Assist with maintaining documentation and records in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and facility policies and procedures. The Volunteer Coordinator position is Monday - Friday, 8-5, some Saturdays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for MSS programs with a primary focus on Meals on Wheels of Lee County

· Coordinate daily meal delivery routes and volunteer assignments

· Maintain volunteer records, schedules, route coverage, and communication

· Ensure all routes are adequately staffed and deliveries are completed efficiently and safely

· Serve as the primary point of contact for Meals on Wheels of Lee County volunteers

· Organize volunteer orientation and appreciation activities

· Support the Community Outreach Director in developing relationships with churches, civic groups, schools, businesses, and community organizations to expand volunteer participation

Outreach & Community Engagement

· Assist with outreach initiatives that support older adults living independently

· Represent Methodist Senior Services at community events, meetings, and presentations

· Promote awareness of Meals on Wheels of Lee County and other outreach services throughout the community

· Assist with community partnerships and collaborative efforts that benefit seniors

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

High school graduate of GED with courses in related subjects (such as medical transcription, secretarial and computer/word processor/typing skills, bookkeeping, etc.) or courses taken on these subjects from another learning institution or program.Have taken courses in related subjects beyond high school; be at least 21 years of age at the time employment commences.

Minimum Qualifications

Meet the minimum age requirements for a work permit in Mississippi at the time employment commences; at least two years experience in related work, preferably in nursing home, or other health care facility.
