Senior Federal Information Systems Security Engineer Consultant
**Job Description**

The Senior Federal Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) serves as a technical integrator responsible for ensuring that system-to-system connections across federal boundaries are properly documented, approved, and compliant with all required cybersecurity and interoperability standards. This role operates upstream of A&A, supporting project teams during system design and throughout the connectivity approval lifecycle, but does not participate in the Assess & Authorize (A&A) process itself.

The ISSE will collaborate with internal project teams, external agency partners, network engineers, and cybersecurity stakeholders to gather system connectivity details, generate and manage Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) documentation, support Authority to Connect (ATC) submissions, and assist with Line of Sight (LOS) testing and troubleshooting.

Basic Qualifications

- 10+ years combined higher education and relevant professional experience, including:

· 3+ years in information systems security, network security, or boundary protection roles

· 7+ years of higher education

· /or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job

· Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline

- Ability to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance

- U.S. citizenship (required by contract)

Preferred Qualifications

· CISSP (ISC²)

· CEH (EC-Council)

· CISM (ISACA)

· CompTIA Security· Experience with federal PPSM processes, boundary security teams, or cross-domain solutions

· Experience supporting ATC or interconnection approval workflows

· Prior federal government or DoD experience

Expectations

· Reside in or be willing to relocate to a mutually approved location (Northern Virginia preferred)

· Work 40 hours per week as needed to support mission timelines

· Maintain compliance with all corporate and federal cybersecurity policies

· Protect corporate and client assets and report any suspected security issues

· Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

**Responsibilities**

Key Responsibilities

- System Connectivity Engineering - Work with solution architects, network teams, and program stakeholders during design phases to capture accurate system-to-system connectivity requirements, data flows, and boundary crossing details.

- PPSM Documentation & Lifecycle Management - Create, maintain, and validate PPSM spreadsheets; ensure accuracy of ports, protocols, and services; submit PPSMs through the required approval channels; track status through completion.

- Authority to Connect (ATC) Coordination - Prepare and submit required pre-connectivity documentation packages; monitor ATC progress; coordinate with government reviewers and external partners to resolve questions or required updates.

- Cross-Agency Collaboration - Serve as a primary technical liaison with external federal agencies, mission partners, and boundary security teams to ensure alignment on connectivity requirements and timelines.

- Line of Sight (LOS) Testing Support - Participate in LOS testing activities, validate connectivity paths, assist with troubleshooting issues discovered during testing, and support post-LOS remediation.

- Technical Documentation - Produce high-quality connectivity artifacts (Interface Control Documents for Connectivity [ICD-C]) required for boundary approvals and operational readiness.

- Operational Support - Provide subject-matter expertise on boundary security requirements, encryption expectations, and interconnection standards; support teams during deployment and early operational phases.

- Compliance Alignment - Ensure all connectivity documentation aligns with federal cybersecurity policies, boundary protection requirements, and agency-specific submission processes.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $71,200 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
