Data Management Analyst
Job Title: Data Management Analyst - Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) & Master Data Management (MDM)Job Description

The Data Management Analyst for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Master Data Management (MDM) plays a key role in managing, optimizing, and safeguarding metering data and systems for utility operations. This position focuses on the daily operation of AMI systems, the accuracy and integrity of master data, and the effective use of smart meter data to drive operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and data?driven decision?making across electric, water, and gas services.

Responsibilities

+ Oversee the daily operations of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure, including smart meters, communication networks, data collection platforms, and data storage systems.

+ Manage and maintain master data related to meters, including customer account information, meter IDs, configurations, and associated metadata.

+ Monitor and analyze data collected from smart meters to identify anomalies, trends, and opportunities for system and process optimization.

+ Plan and coordinate the deployment of smart meters, ensuring correct installation, configuration, and ongoing functionality.

+ Respond promptly to hardware and software issues within AMI systems to minimize downtime and prevent data inaccuracies.

+ Implement and maintain data validation and quality control processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of metering data.

+ Implement and maintain cybersecurity and data protection measures to safeguard metering data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

+ Ensure that AMI systems and data management practices comply with applicable utility regulations, standards, and industry best practices.

+ Generate clear, insightful reports and dashboards that summarize metering data, system performance, and key operational metrics for stakeholders.

+ Collaborate with internal teams such as billing and customer service to integrate AMI data into core business processes and customer interactions.

+ Coordinate with vendors and service providers to procure, implement, and support AMI equipment, software, and related services.

+ Train and educate staff members on AMI system usage, data management best practices, and cybersecurity protocols.

+ Identify and recommend opportunities for system enhancements, process improvements, and cost reductions within AMI and MDM operations.

+ Support project planning and execution for larger-scale AMI deployments, upgrades, and integration initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field.

+ Several years of experience in AMI operations, data management, or utility operations, with a demonstrated understanding of AMI technologies and protocols.

+ Proficiency in AMI system technologies and platforms used for smart metering and data collection.

+ Strong skills in data management, including handling large data sets and maintaining master data accuracy.

+ Experience with data management tools used for storing, validating, and analyzing metering data.

+ Solid understanding of cybersecurity practices relevant to protecting metering and utility data.

+ Strong analytical and problem?solving skills to interpret metering data, detect anomalies, and resolve issues.

+ Familiarity with utility industry regulations and standards related to AMI and data management.

+ Effective verbal and written communication skills for working with internal teams, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders.

+ Attention to detail and precision to ensure data accuracy, system reliability, and compliance.

+ Ability to manage tasks and timelines effectively, particularly in the context of AMI deployments and system changes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Advanced degrees or specialized certifications in AMI technology, data management, or related fields are preferred.

+ Background in software engineering, software development, or hardware-related work within utility or metering environments.

+ Experience with data analysis techniques to derive insights and support operational decision?making from metering data.

+ Exposure to project management practices for technology deployments, upgrades, and cross?functional initiatives.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including billing, customer service, operations, and IT.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite at the Meridian division office, working closely with utility operations, IT, and other business teams. The environment centers on the use of AMI system technologies, data management tools, and related software platforms to monitor and optimize metering infrastructure. The position involves regular interaction with smart meter data, communication networks, and supporting hardware and software systems. Work is typically performed in an office setting with standard business hours, with occasional flexibility required to address urgent system issues, deployments, or upgrades.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Meridian, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $36.06/hr.
