Specialist, Project Manager
As a Project Manager in our PMO, you will be responsible for ensuring that project delivery objectives are achieved in accordance with established business goals and requirements.

In this role the Project Manager will work closely with Key Stakeholders throughout the business to initially build out the policies, processes, definitions, templates and other artifacts and/or tools as needed to further define and implement a function for the business. Additionally, this role, will have the opportunity to facilitate and directs activities to deliver projects according to established financial, schedule, and quality objectives, while keeping a focus on maintaining best practices and ensuring quality in the whole process. Knowledge and experience with process engineering, 3rd party vendor management practices, software development release process and project lifecycles will be integral to this role.

The Project Manager will:

+ Manage project initiation and planning

+ Document, and manage project scope

+ Define and prioritize project tasks

+ Establish project goals, requirements, and desired results

+ Create, manage, and update project schedules and timeline

+ Define, manage, and update resources

+ Review requirements and specifications for work

+ Participate in identifying project resources required

+ Identify and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project team personnelManage project execution

+ Establish schedules and project parameters; develop procedures to accomplish project goals

+ Identify and manage project risk

+ Identify and manage project issues

+ Coordinate the work across multiple projects and/or deliverables with other project staff of Key Business Stakeholders from various functional departments

+ Provide Status Reports on project deliverables as defined by PMO Governance

+ Overall project management to include scope definition, risk assessment, budget management, process definition, stakeholder communication

+ Facilitate team meetings and provide direction when needed

+ Define new processes as needed and/or gaps in existing processes, with a focus on cost savings, efficiency and automation.

+ Act as focal point for project problem resolution and escalation

+ Establish conditions for project closure and manage closure

Manage project quality delivery

+ Ensure the quality provided and delivered meets that in the agreed plan

+ Ensure PMO Governance and project best practices are followed

Report and Communication

+ Prepare project reports for management, clients or others

+ Facilitate interactive sessions

+ Deliver presentations as required

Relationship management

+ Establish and maintain customer relationships appropriately

+ Negotiate with clients to reach optimal delivery resolution

+ Manage customer expectations in delivery

+ Manage vendor relations, as appropriate

Required Education & Experience

+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required

+ 2-5 years previous project management experience required

+ Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously preferred

+ Experience in working with 3rd-party delivery model and structure a plus

+ Experience in vendor management preferred

+ Experience with process improvement certifications (CMMI, CBPP) a plus

Desired Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

+ Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes

+ Knowledge of project management methods and tools

+ Business and product process design and implementation preferred

+ Vendor management process and experience preferred

+ Strong listening, oral and written communications skills required

+ Leadership and team building skills a must

+ Problem-solving skills required

+ Coordination skills a must

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills required

+ Self-starter orientation

+ Conflict management experience a plus

+ Ability to deal with change

+ Strong business acumen

Other (Preferred License/Certification): license/certification):

+ PMP Certification preferred

+ Process certification preferred (CMMI, CBPP, ISO 9001)

+ Prince2

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by factors including skill set, experience, and location

The full-time salary range for this role is **$75,000 - 83,000** annually for **US** ; **35,000-45,000 GBP** annually for **UK** .

This position is eligible for Pearson's annual incentive program. Information on benefits can be found here
