Job Description

The CTMS Administrator Lead (ONCORE) oversees the installation, configuration, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of operating system workstations and complex servers that support a comprehensive clinical trial management system environment. This role leads the implementation, optimization, integration, and ongoing management of ONCORE and related research systems to centralize and streamline research operations across a large academic and clinical enterprise. The CTMS Administrator Lead provides technical leadership, supervises and guides team members, and ensures that systems operate reliably, securely, and in alignment with research and institutional requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Oversee and maintain the integrity of the operating system environment by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions to support ONCORE and related CTMS tools.

+ Monitor and perform workstation and complex server administration, including setup, configuration, testing, maintenance, and ongoing support for research and clinical systems.

+ Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes as required to maintain system security, stability, and performance.

+ Schedule and manage data backup and recovery operations, ensuring reliable protection of research and clinical data.

+ Initiate server shutdowns and reboots as required for planned system maintenance and emergency response actions.

+ Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.

+ Evaluate, recommend, and integrate hardware and system software upgrades to optimize system performance and support growing research operations.

+ Collaborate with end users and stakeholders to understand requirements, provide guidance, and perform complex problem diagnosis and resolution related to the systems operating environment.

+ Analyze, develop, and implement standard operating procedures for system administration, CTMS operations, and related workflows.

+ Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

+ Monitor and maintain continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements, ensuring that all systems remain properly licensed and supported.

+ Lead the implementation, optimization, integration, and management of ONCORE across the research setting, including coordination with Clinical Conductor and other related systems.

+ Oversee and guide calendar builds and related CTMS configuration activities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with protocol and institutional requirements.

+ Provide leadership, supervision, and functional guidance to assigned personnel, including training, mentoring, and performance oversight.

+ Prepare reports and maintain accurate records and documentation related to system configuration, maintenance activities, procedures, and compliance.

+ Support institutional efforts to centralize and streamline research operations, contributing to strategic goals such as achieving major research designations and expanding sponsored programs.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

+ Approximately four (4) years of related experience in system administration, server and workstation management, or similar technical roles.

+ Demonstrated experience implementing ONCORE throughout a research setting, including integration and optimization of CTMS workflows.

+ Hands-on experience with CTMS platforms, including ONCORE and Clinical Conductor.

+ Leadership and management experience supervising employees and providing functional guidance to technical staff.

+ Proven ability to oversee more than calendar build activities, including broader system oversight, integration, and team leadership.

+ Strong knowledge of computer systems, advanced operating systems, security, software applications, and system utilities.

+ Ability to perform workstation and server administration, including setup, customization, testing, maintenance, and support.

+ Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system hardware and software in a complex environment.

+ Ability to monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

+ Ability to perform system backup and recovery operations reliably and efficiently.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Effective interpersonal and customer service skills for working with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

+ Analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues.

+ Ability to prepare clear reports and maintain thorough records and documentation.

+ Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees in a technical environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Preferred certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003 or later.

+ Experience managing research-focused IT environments supporting clinical trials and sponsored programs.

+ Familiarity with research operations, including CTMS-driven calendar builds, protocol management, and integration with clinical and financial systems.

+ Experience working within large, multi-site academic or healthcare organizations.

+ Interest in contributing to institutional goals such as expanding sponsored research and supporting major research center designations.

Work Environment

This role operates in a 100% remote work environment, providing flexibility while supporting a large, complex research and clinical enterprise. Occasional travel to campus may be required for key meetings, training, system go-lives, or collaborative planning sessions. The position supports a growing research university environment with significant sponsored program activity spanning multiple schools, research centers, hospitals, and clinics. The work involves extensive use of enterprise technologies, including ONCORE, Clinical Conductor, advanced operating systems, servers, and related infrastructure tools, in a highly collaborative, innovation-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Jackson, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
