Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Moss Point, Mississippi. This role involves collaborating closely with the Accounting Manager and contributing to internal reporting, financial statement preparation, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities:

- Prepare detailed journal entries and reconcile accounts, including cash, payroll, and prepaid expenses.

- Conduct monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting.

- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including workbook preparation.

- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting procedures and standards.

- Maintain fixed asset ledgers, including depreciation and reconciliations, as well as capital lease schedules.

- Perform intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliations with accuracy.

- Generate financial statements, cash flow projections, and budgets to support organizational goals.

- Analyze and interpret financial data, presenting it in a clear and actionable format.

- Contribute to department-wide initiatives and handle ad-hoc reporting and special projects.

- Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.

- Minimum of two years of accounting experience in a detail-oriented environment.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other related software programs.

- Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite or Blackline is a plus.

- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.

- Effective organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.

- Ability to meet critical deadlines and handle multiple priorities independently.

- Previous experience in a publicly traded company or dynamic work environment is advantageous.
