Job Summary

The resident will deliver direct clinical services, psychological assessment, outreach programming, and multidisciplinary consultation within an integrated athletics health model. This position emphasizes the development of advanced competencies in assessment, crisis intervention, sport performance consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and systems-level service delivery in compliance with NCAA, conference, and state regulatory standards. This is a supervised, training-focused appointment. Eligibility for licensure in the State of Mississippi is required at the time of hire, with the expectation of obtaining independent licensure within three (3) months of employment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

+ Maintain a clinical caseload of enrolled student-athletes, including individual therapy, team interventions, and group programming.

+ Conduct and/or co-supervise psychological evaluations to inform diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and referrals for psychopharmacological consultation.

+ Complete intellectual and psychoeducational assessments to support accommodation requests in collaboration with Athletic Academic Support Services.

+ Provide evidence-based sport psychology consultation to assigned teams and facilitate psychoeducational workshops grounded in empirically supported sport and performance psychology principles.

+ Assist with providing consultation and outreach services to coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning, nutrition and other administrative personnel regarding the psychological well-being of individual student-athletes and team members.

+ Assist in providing daytime, evening, and weekend crisis response services for individual student-athletes and teams.

+ Collaborate with campus partners to support emergency mental health care, reintegration following injury or hospitalization, and continuity of care.

+ Support coordinated care for complex clinical presentations including substance use disorders, disordered eating, and severe and persistent mental illness.

+ Engage in collaborative practice with campus entities including student counseling services, health services, academic support, and behavioral health resources.

+ Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record system.

+ Assist in compiling and reporting data utilization for psychological services.

+ Participate in supervision and training meetings and perform special projects or departmental initiatives as assigned.
