Visiting Assistant Professor - Secondary Education

Job Summary
The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2026 with requirements to be physically present on the Hattiesburg and/or Gulf Coast campuses. The Secondary Education faculty currently provide training to initial licensure candidates in Secondary Education, including students participating in a year-long residency placement. We are especially interested in candidates whose experience includes bridging research and practice. We aim to recruit applicants with a background in Curriculum and Instruction/Secondary who will support both the School of Education's undergraduate and graduate Secondary Education programs. Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teaching and mentoring students.
+ Supervising secondary clinical experiences.
+ Engaging with community partner districts, schools, and community colleges.
+ Contributing to program and profession through service activities.
+ Collaborating with colleagues on program development and assessment.
+ Performing other duties as assigned.
