Job Summary

The School of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi seeks to hire a faculty member in the area of Music Education at the rank of Visiting Instructor. This is a one-year position with the potential for extension, though the School anticipates initiating a tenure-track search during the 2026-2027 academic year.

The anticipated hire date for this search is August 1, 2026.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

+ Teach undergraduate elementary and secondary general music courses.

+ Teach undergraduate courses in instrumental music education.

+ Teach other undergraduate or graduate courses in the music education curriculum and/or supervise student teachers in order to meet a 4x4 teaching load.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.
