**Job Description**
As the HV/MV Substation Protection and Controls Lead, you will serve as the key technical authority responsible for the design, review, and delivery of high-reliability protection, relaying, and controls systems across all high and medium voltage substations supporting current and future data center power delivery. You will set and enforce technical standards for primary and backup protection, relay coordination, grid and microgrid controls, and SCADA integration. In this high-impact IC6-level role, you will architect safe, fault-tolerant systems that provide our mission-critical operations with world-class electrical reliability.
**Responsibilities**
**Protection System and Controls Leadership**
Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end protection and relaying schemes (13.8kV-345kV; AIS/GIS) in support of data center and microgrid operations.
Define and approve all protective relay philosophies, settings, and coordination to ensure swift, selective fault clearing with no nuisance trips.
Develop grounding and arc-flash mitigation strategies for personnel and asset safety.
**System Integration and Review**
Manage integration of protection, controls, and relays with existing SCADA, EMS, and microgrid systems; ensure clear communications and robust cybersecurity.
Oversee and conduct detailed utility model reviews, respond to interconnection requirements, and represent the organization during utility witness testing.
Ensure compliance with key standards (IEC 61850, IEEE, NERC, DNP3) and regulatory requirements.
**Testing, Commissioning, and Continuous Improvement**
Lead and/or witness FAT/SAT activities and all site acceptance testing for protection equipment and controls.
Provide expert input during commissioning, root-cause analysis, and ongoing reliability improvement initiatives.
Continuously monitor field performance and drive enhancements in protection reliability and system resilience.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**
Partner with system architects, operations, project delivery, and construction teams to align on technical standards and ensure seamless project execution.
Contribute to enterprise reference architectures, technical documentation, and training for protection controls.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $136,600 to $338,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
