Lead Technology Leader

The Lead Technology Leadership Professional is responsible for all aspects of software or hardware product delivery and performance. The Lead Technology Leadership Professional works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Lead to own production reliability for enterprise platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on automation,

observability, multi-cloud reliability, and incident leadership. The role includes mentoring engineers, leading on-call activities,

and providing clear reliability insights to senior stakeholders-without formal people management responsibilities.

**Description**

The SRE Lead is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of business-critical systems. You will work closely with application, platform, and cloud teams to embed SRE best practices, improve automation, and strengthen observability across multiple application stacks. This role requires deep technical expertise,

strong ownership of production systems, and the ability to mentor engineers while influencing reliability outcomes across teams.

**Job Description**

+ Lead reliability engineering efforts for enterprise, mission-critical application stacks.

+ Remain hands-on with automation, and production troubleshooting.

+ Lead and participate in on-call rotations, major incident response, and post-incident reviews.

+ Design and implement automation-first solutions to reduce toil and improve system reliability.

+ Define, implement, and maintain SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.

+ Provide technical leadership across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

+ Champion observability standards, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.

+ Apply AI and GenAI capabilities to enhance monitoring, incident analysis, and operational workflows.

+ Review system designs and changes to ensure scalability, resilience, and operability.

+ Mentor and guide SREs and engineers through design reviews, incident support, and knowledge sharing.

+ Summarize reliability metrics, incidents, and risks into concise reports for senior leadership.

+ Strong hands-on experience supporting multiple production application stacks.

+ Advanced skills in automation, scripting, and CI/CD (Python, Go, Shell, Terraform).

+ Proven experience operating in multi-cloud environments.

+ Deep understanding of distributed systems, Linux, networking, and cloud-native architectures.

+ Expertise in observability tools and practices.

+ Experience participating in and leading on-call rotations and incident response.

+ Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and raise overall team capability.

+ Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues for senior stakeholders.

**Required Qualifications**

+ 7+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or production engineering roles.

+ Prior experience in a Lead SRE or senior technical role with ownership of reliability outcomes.

+ Proven hands-on experience in enterprise-scale production environments.

+ Experience applying AI or GenAI in engineering or operational use cases.

+ Experience working within large, complex, or regulated environments is a plus.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ MBA or another Advanced Degree

+ Demonstrated ability to run large scale, highly visible programs with responsibility for multiple project teams

+ Possess a solid understanding of operations, technology, communications and processes

+ Six Sigma certification

+ ITIL certification

**Additional Information**

**Work-At-Home Requirements**

+ WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

+ A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

+ Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

+ A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

**Pay Range**

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$117,600 - $161,700 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
