Sr. Microsoft Licensing Consultant

We're looking for a Sr. Microsoft Licensing Consultant to join our team.
The Sr. Microsoft Licensing Consultant will design, lead, and scale operational best practices across our Microsoft ecosystem. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on expertise with **Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA)** , **Microsoft CSP (direct or indirect)** , and modern Microsoft Cloud commercial constructs (e.g., **MCA/Microsoft Customer Agreement** , seat-based offers, Azure consumption, New Commerce Experience). This role will drive licensing strategy, optimize margin and revenue, improve compliance and governance, and enable sales, finance, and delivery teams with scalable processes and tooling.
**Responsibilities**
+ Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for **Microsoft EA, CSP, and Cloud licensing** (M365, Dynamics 365, Azure, Power Platform).
+ Advise Sales, Business Development team, Sales Operations and Finance on deal structuring (EA vs. CSP vs. MCA), price protection, term alignment, and cost optimization.
+ Translate Microsoft commercial updates into actionable guidance and playbooks for internal teams and customers.
+ Design and implement **standard operating procedures (SOPs)** for quoting, provisioning, co-terming, renewals, and billing (CSP seat-based + Azure consumption).
+ Build **governance** , **controls** , and **approval workflows** to reduce risk (credit, consumption overages, incorrect provisioning).
+ Establish **renewal orchestration** processes (120/90/60/30 timelines, E5 upsell motions, NCE commitment strategy, true-up/true-down handling).
+ Own the **CSP P\&L levers** : rebate attainment, incentives optimization, promotional offers, and price-lift strategy.
+ Develop **SKU rationalization** and **offer mapping** to align customer needs to the most profitable and compliant licensing motions.
+ Partner with Marketing/Sales to develop **bundles, offers, and campaigns** tied to Microsoft FY priorities.
+ Define data model and reporting for **ARR/NRR** , seat growth, churn, Azure consumption trends, and **incentive attainment** .
+ Implement automation and integrations across CRM/PSA/ERP and CSP portals for **quote-to-cash** and **license lifecycle** workflows.
+ Maintain a **licensing knowledge base** and reusable **licensing calculators** /decision trees.
+ Lead complex customer engagements: EA to CSP migrations, hybrid models, Azure consumption governance, and cost optimization.
+ Collaborate with Microsoft and distributors as an indirect CSP on escalations, roadmap alignment, incentives, and co-selling opportunities.
+ Coach sales teams on **value realization** and **adoption motions** that drive expansion and renewals.
**Skills & Qualifications**
+ **10+ years** of hands-on Microsoft licensing experience with significant depth in **EA** and **CSP** (direct or indirect).
+ Proven track record building and scaling **operational best practices** , licensing governance, and revenue operations for Microsoft Cloud.
+ Strong knowledge of **Microsoft Cloud commercial programs** : MCA/Microsoft Customer Agreement, **NCE** (New Commerce Experience), seat-based subscriptions, Azure plan/consumption, private offers, price lists, and promotions.
+ Expertise across **Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Azure, and Power Platform** licensing models.
+ Demonstrated success influencing **P\&L outcomes** (margin mix, incentives, growth, churn).
+ Comfortable designing processes across **CRM/PSA/ERP** and **CSP portals** ; able to partner with RevOps and IT on automation.
+ Exceptional communication skills; able to simplify complex licensing and contractual concepts for executive and non-technical audiences.
+ Experience with **EA to CSP** transition strategies, co-terming, and multi-tenant design.
+ Familiarity with **Microsoft Cloud Partner Program (MCPP)** incentives, co-op/marketing funds, and co-sell motions.
+ Understanding **FinOps** /Azure cost governance frameworks.
+ Exposure to **software asset management (SAM)** and compliance audits.
+ Certifications (nice-to-have): **Microsoft Fundamentals (AZ-900, MS-900, PL-900)** , **FinOps Certified Practitioner** , **ITIL Foundation** .
**Wage Range** **:**
The annual starting salary for this position is between $ **135,000 - $198,000** annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
**Other Compensation** **:**
This position is also eligible for incentive compensation in accordance with the terms of the applicable Company plan
