Description We are looking for a skilled and experienced Controller to manage the financial operations of a dynamic hospitality management group in Gulfport, Mississippi. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and driving strategic growth across multiple properties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and finance, coupled with leadership capabilities to guide teams and collaborate effectively with senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare and present detailed financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to executive leadership.
- Oversee and manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for various business units.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial regulations, maintaining full compliance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and enhance efficiency.
- Coordinate and support audit processes, liaising with external auditors as needed.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to finance and accounting staff.
- Collaborate with property managers and operational leaders to optimize financial performance.
- Conduct variance analysis and deliver actionable recommendations to improve profitability and manage costs.
- Evaluate financial aspects of contracts, capital expenditures, and new business opportunities to support decision-making. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, including at least 2 years in a senior or controller position.
- Proven expertise in hospitality accounting systems and industry-specific metrics.
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and budget management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance requirements specific to the hospitality industry ideal.
