**Job Description**

Oracle's Infrastructure Central Architecture team is redefining how hyperscale data centers are designed, automated, and operated. This role focuses on architecting the control-system and telemetry software layer that unifies Building Management Systems (BMS), Datacenter Management Infrastructure (DCMI), SCADA/PLC environments, power and cooling telemetry, and automation frameworks across Oracle's global data center fleet.

As the Data Center Controls & BMS Software Architect, you will design the core architecture that enables real-time monitoring, supervisory control, system interoperability, automated decisioning, and fault-tolerant operations across mission-critical facilities infrastructure. You'll partner with MEP engineering, facilities operations, software engineering, and vendor controls teams to build the platform that ensures reliability at hyperscale.

**Responsibilities**

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Suggest and justify product directions within approved directions. Define responsibilities for new projects and specifies, designs and develops software according to those specifications. Provide consultative software guidance and strategic direction associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Key Responsibilities (High-Level)

+ Define the end-to-end architecture for global datacenter control systems, including DCMI, BMS, SCADA/PLC integration, and telemetry platforms.

+ Unify all facilities systems into a cohesive control ecosystem, enabling reliable monitoring, automation, and supervisory control across power and cooling infrastructure.

+ Develop standards, data models, and reference architectures for real-time telemetry, observability, digital twins, and cross-vendor equipment interoperability.

+ Drive fault-tolerant control design and automation, ensuring safe-state behavior, redundancy, and hyperscale operational reliability.

+ Align software, controls, MEP engineering, and operations teams, ensuring system designs match real equipment behaviors and datacenter operational needs.

+ Select and govern technologies, protocols, and tooling for controls integration (BACnet, Modbus/TCP, OPC-UA, SNMP), telemetry ingestion, and automation frameworks.

+ Provide technical leadership and mentorship, guiding development teams implementing the control and automation platform.

Basic Requirements (Controls-Focused)

+ 15+ years engineering large-scale distributed or real-time systems, with significant experience in industrial controls, data-center BMS, SCADA, PLC integration, or OT/ICS automation.

+ 10+ years building software for datacenter environments, including BMS/DCMI/EPMS systems or supervisory control platforms.

+ Expert knowledge of telemetry, time-series data systems, historian databases, controls protocols (BACnet, Modbus/TCP, SNMP, OPC-UA), and equipment integration.

+ Proven ability to architect high-availability control systems, digital twins, and automation frameworks for mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

+ Strong skills in modern programming languages (Go, Python, Java/C++), microservices architectures, and cloud-native deployment models.

+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, guide engineering teams, and present to senior leadership.

Preferred Requirements

+ Deep understanding of MEP infrastructure including chilled water systems, liquid cooling (CDUs/TCS loops), CRAH/CRAC controls, UPS/EPMS, ATS/generator sequencing, and facility network architectures.

+ Experience with infrastructure-as-code, controls deployment pipelines, and automated configuration management for OT systems.

+ Exposure to hyperscale cloud provider environments.

+ Advanced degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
