Job Summary
The Data Science Researcher in the Ma Research Lab at the School of Polymer Science and Engineering conducts research of novel polymeric material systems through a data-driven approach. The successful candidate will integrate into a supportive work environment and lead the efforts of database curation and artificial intelligence and machine learning model training and testing to investigate the processing-structure-property relationships in polymeric material systems. In addition to conducting advanced research, the individual will collaborate with graduate students and mentor undergraduate students in the group. Responsibilities also include analyzing and interpreting data, preparing technical reports and publications, and presenting findings to both scientific community and funding sponsors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct data-driven investigations, applying artificial intelligence/machine learning approaches and database tools to research novel polymeric material systems.
+ Analyze complex research data and prepare manuscripts, proposals, technical documents, and progress reports for both scientific audience and funding sponsors.
+ Oversee data management and model training and testing.
+ Supervise and mentor undergraduate students by guiding research priorities, monitoring progress, and providing technical expertise and direction.
+ Facilitate communication and reporting with funding sponsors, ensuring timely updates and compliance with funding requirements.
+ Participate in travel to research conferences, sponsor meetings, and host visiting collaborators.
+ Comply with all University and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations and perform other duties as assigned.
