**Job Description**

**Principal Software Developer for High Availability Cloud Computing**

Oracle Data Guard is the industry leader for enterprise data protection, high availability, and extreme scalability. Data Guard creates and maintains one or more real-time copies of production databases to protect business data from failures, disasters, human error, and data corruptions. It is one of the key technologies that powers Oracle's Cloud Services (Dedicated Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service, Exadata Cloud @ Customer). Oracle Data Guard is also used by on-premises customers spanning business sectors like financial, health care, manufacturing, consumer retail, and government agencies. As a product developer on our team, you will develop new features that address customer needs, write technical specifications, design, implement, and test the solution, and collaborate with developers across the company. Your responsibilities will require you to work at all levels of the software stack from designing UI elements down to debugging problems at the lowest level.

A successful member of our team is able to:

+ Investigate unfamiliar areas as part of the product development cycle.

+ Collaborate with members on our team and other teams, including documentation, support, and product management teams.

+ Work independently when necessary.

The following skills are required:

+ 7+ years of experience is developing high availability and/or distributed computing solutions.

+ Bachelor's degree in computer science.

+ Proficient in C.

+ Strong software engineering skills.

+ Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.

+ Firm grasp of concurrent programming theory and practices.

The following skills are highly desired:

+ Familiar with relational database and operating system concepts.

+ Java and SQL proficiency is a plus.

**Responsibilities**

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
