The School of Accountancy in the College of Business and Economic Development, University of Southern Mississippi, invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach a senior level business law course focused on topics tested on the CPA exam. These topics include contract law, security interests and creditors rights, bankruptcy law, employment law, estate and trust law, agency law, laws relating to forms of business entities, and ethics in business.

Review of applications begin immediately. Candidates may be asked to teach on the Hattiesburg or Gulf Park campus, in a remote delivery format, or online. Campus classes will be delivered in late afternoons or evenings. Adjunct instructors are engaged to teach classes on a class-by-class, semester-by-semester basis. The immediate need is for someone to teach a campus class in Hattiesburg during the Fall 2023 semester.

Job Summary

Adjunct faculty members provide face-to-face, hybrid, and online course instruction including all aspects of course administration as an instructor of record.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

+ Adhere to class schedules as posted.

+ Communicate course requirements to students.

+ Teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes as needed.

+ Be available to assigned students for support and course advising including exams, required remediation, and summative evaluations.

+ Be collaborative with other CBE faculty as well as the Director to plan, implement, and evaluate each course offering taught to maintain quality and effectiveness.

+ Follow the policies and procedures of the CBE and the University of Southern Mississippi.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school. Thee years of substantial and recent practice experience as an attorney in an area of commercial/business law sufficient to meet the qualification as an instructional practitioner for AACSB purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Professional Accountancy or equivalent degree, or LL.M. in Taxation. 18 credit hours of graduate accounting coursework. Licensed Certified Public Accountant.
