About the Agency This opportunity is a Social Service Manager position in the Coordinated Care Unit within MS Department of Child Protection Services. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. ABOUT THE POSITION


This is an x-16 position. • Oversee and manage the daily operations of Coordinated Care. • Ensures support and services are being implemented statewide. • Ensure proper development and implementation of the therapeutic referral process. • Supervise/coach staff. • Provide ongoing training/supervision to staff. • Responsible for preparing weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports. • Ensure support and assistance is provided to MDCPS Social Service Specialist to ensure appropriate documentation for therapeutic children is delivered in a timely manner to help identify the most appropriate placement. • Acts as a liaison to other agency departments to ensure the coordination of policies and procedures. • Attend and participate in Specialized Planning Options to Transition Team and State Level Case Review Team meetings to discuss needs of therapeutic foster children. • Developing training curriculum to enhance MDCPS staff knowledge and skills regarding Therapeutic Placement. • Work with contracted providers to improve/enhance service delivery to youth based on their needs. • Schedule and facilitate meetings with acute care providers to develop a continuum of care plan. • Oversee request regarding Special Board Rate, Special Needs I and Special Needs II, for approval or denial. • Review and approve therapeutic placement ticklers in MACWIS. • Attend and participate in meetings with community stake holders to maintain a working relationship with other therapeutic organizations. • Maintain relationships with contracted Therapeutic Providers. • Review and update Therapeutic Placement documentation, such as, the Residential Service Application and the supporting documentation for the referring process. • Review and approve timecards, travel, and leave. • Stay up to date on available resources and maintain a resource manual. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL


Ability to build relationships with community providers. Knowledge of resources to meet the needs of youth in care. Being on call for after-hours emergency placement needs. Professional commitment and support to Field Operations staff is a priority. Efficient organizational, time management skills, and good oral/written communication skills are a must. Positive work morale. Ability to be flexible in thinking and problem solving. Realistic expectations about the difficulty and challenges of the work. Ability to handle an often-unpredictable work environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to the environment, and to be a team player.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Appointing authority may require a Master’s Degree and/or social worker’s license. Agency preferred qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree, from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field. 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Will require a MS social worker’s license. Experience coordinating care, reviewing, reading and interpreting clinical documentation and recommendations. Experience communicating with healthcare providers and teams about treatment needs and facilitating partnerships with community agencies and providers.
