This opportunity is a Social Services Manager/ Rapid Response position within MS Department of Child Protection Services. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. ABOUT THE POSITION
Social Service Manager for Rapid Response will be responsible for providing indirect and direct support to service areas that need support from the Rapid Response team. The Social Service Manager will be responsible for working alongside the ADC to assess the needs of a specific service area or county and then implement that plan to provide wrap around support to guide practice and service delivery. This position would require on-site travel to the area needing support from the Rapid Response team. This position could require assignment to the well-being and permanency or safety divisions of the agency. An overnight stay may be required and should be expected based on the need and location. The Social Service Manager will be accountable for the oversight of social service activities of a facility or program. The Social Services Manager will be accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating programs and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs. The Social Services Manager may develop procedures and administrative policies, and administers program budget. At this level, employees serve on an agency’s leadership team. The Social Services Manager will be accountable for the direct supervision of the Team Leads within the Rapid Response team and be accountable for the direct supervision of staff within the service area in which they are currently on assignment, as identified from the initial plan. The Social Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing social service policies and procedures pertaining to wellbeing and permanency of foster children and families to whom the agency provides services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of experience, and 2-3 years of supervisory experience. Appointing authority may require a Master’s Degree and/or a social worker’s license. — Agency Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field. Five (5) + years of experience and two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience. Will require an MS social worker’s license.
