QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with successful experience coaching baseball.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum of three years of successful baseball coaching experience at the high school and/or collegiate level.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the assigned athletic program, including recruiting, instruction, supervision, organization, and student-athlete development. Coaches are expected to support academic success, student conduct, and overall student-athlete engagement. Coaches may also be assigned additional institutional responsibilities and may be required to assist with College events and activities as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit and supervise student-athletes with integrity and professionalism.
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) rules and regulations.
Assist in monitoring class attendance and academic progress toward graduation.
Monitor student-athletes’ conduct and behavior in the classroom, student housing, and at college-related events both on and off campus, and apply appropriate discipline when necessary.
Assist with room checks, curfew enforcement, and academic support programs for student-athletes.
Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices while providing quality instruction and conditioning.
Assist with coaching responsibilities during practices and matches.
Supervise and organize equipment rooms and related operations.
Assist with film editing, film breakdown, scouting, and film exchange.
Assist the Head Coach with match-day preparations, including receiving and assisting visiting teams.
Assist the Head Coach and Dean of Students/Athletic Director with drug screenings, medical claims, and insurance documentation.
Assist the Head Coach in coordinating physical examinations for student-athletes.
Secure all facilities following practices and matches.
Monitor athletic facilities and promptly report maintenance needs or issues to the Head Coach.
Assist the Head Coach with athletic program statistics and recordkeeping.
Attend local and state athletic meetings as required.
Participate in institutional fundraising activities and assist in identifying fundraising opportunities for the College’s athletic program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
