Summary:  School food service assistants work in cafeterias and lunch rooms in public and private schools. They may work part- or full-time, usually during regular school hours, although they may need to arrive earlier than students to prepare breakfast. School food service assistants often have summers off, except in cases where they work in summer meals programs. They work on a team of other service professionals, including head cooks, supervisors, lunchroom monitors and custodial staff.

Qualifications and Requirements: Some high school. Online pre-hire training provided. Experience with working with food preferred. Must have transportation to travel to school locations throughout district. Must be able to pass background check.
