This Position is for a Behavioral Health Specialist II with an agency location in Gautier Community Homes, Gautier MS 39553
Summary: This is Fourth-Level professional work which involves providing psychotherapeutic interventions (individual, group and family therapy,) developing intervention strategies, ensuring the implementation of the strategies, and initiating treatment plans. Individuals in this classification also perform screenin assessments of behavioral and emotional functioning, intelligence, achievement, and adaptive functioning. May serve in supervisory roles AS based on organizational/facility guidelines, and may provide direct supervision to employees in less advances classifications.
Responsibilities: This is professional work in administering diagnostic psychological techniques designed to appraise intelligence, memory, personality and other psychological functions to identify any mental health intervention needs and/or behavioral intervention needs. It also involves conducting individual and group therapy, developing intervention strategies, ensuring the implementation of the strategies, and initiating Behavior Support plans. All duties and/or assignments will be performed under supervision of the Community Home Director or Unit Manager.
- Interviews subjects for pertinent psychological data
- Administers scores and interprets both routine and complex psychological examinations to determine intelligence, mental deterioration, social maturity, educational level and other personal traits
- Interprets test findings to relatives, administrators, interdisciplinary team members, and other qualified or approved persons
- Participates in conferences with psychiatrists, social workers and other staff members to review and interpret test data and psychological interview results for diagnosis and treatment of cases
- Conducts individual or group counseling and psychotherapy
- Prepares detailed reports of observations, test findings and other data
- Prepares correspondence and maintains necessary records
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Requires a Masters Degree in a related field acceptable to the hiring agency (Psychology, Counseling, Counselor Education, Community Counseling, Psychometry, ) a minimum of 5-6 years of experience. Must be eligible to drive a State of Mississippi vehicle. Must present a valid Driver's License from Mississippi or a contiguous stae and proof of auto insurance.
