THE POSITION


Industrial Engineer, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, Clinton, MS:


Analyze plant performance in Continental tool, evaluate mid- and long-term growth scenarios, and initiate and prepare long-term investment strategies. Track plant KPIs related to capacity, process cost and efficiency. Support plant management decision making by developing strategic scenarios for volume and product mix allocation. Perform ergonomic analysis of manufacturing workplaces in Continental proprietary system and define measures required for reduction of physical and mental strain of the job. Design and apply logic for the rule-based decision-making system to define production standard times for the complete process chain of the tire manufacturing from the raw material to the finished tire. Work with custom made software developed by IBM and SAP for Continental Tire, including performing Business Acceptance tests for Industrial Engineering system developments. Analyze, calculate, and update in Continental specific tool the individual saving per tire related with material and process improvements from change of the recipes or process parameters. Manage Industrial Engineering's master data as local key user, in sequencing and execution systems (SAP PP, CGMS, MMS/SFE). Manage and train systems users in the plant. 


Telecommuting permitted up to 4 days per month.


Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering or a related field and 2 years of related work experience.


Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in:



  • Tire manufacturing process and the rubber technology chain and parameters that impact the efficiency of the manufacturing process;

  • Process engineering, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, and Quality of a tire manufacturing facility;

  • Preparation of operator’s work instructions for maximum process efficiency and product quality;

  • Managing projects for process improvements in a tire manufacture plant;

  • Structured Problem Solving (SPS);

  • Tracking and measuring of process performance in each stage of the tire manufacturing process including efficiency, capability and yield;

  • Monitoring and analyzing output evaluation in shop floor, including the production and process data, to ensure optimum levels of production, and identify any bottlenecks in a tire manufacturing plant;

  • Monitoring losses to determinate areas of improvements, and organizing and leading projects with cross functional teams to develop and implement process improvements;

  • Implementing process improvements and managing various lean manufacturing tools to increase efficiency and quality of the process in tire manufacturing;

  • Coordinating a cross functional group of people on several projects simultaneously;

  • Maintaining IE master data for sequencing and product costing, including troubleshooting of issues in the cost calculation process; and

  • SAP.
