Admissions Counselor Position Summary
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting eligible applicants into the Job Corps program and supporting students through enrollment, transition, and placement into successful post-program outcomes. This role ensures compliance with all Program Requirements Handbook (PRH) standards while providing individualized guidance that leads to positive student outcomes, including full-time employment, military enlistment, higher education, or advanced Job Corps training. The Admissions Counselor also develops strong community partnerships that support enrollment efforts and student placement.
Key Responsibilities Admissions & Eligibility

Conducts comprehensive applicant screening to determine eligibility in accordance with PRH and Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.
Collects, reviews, and evaluates behavioral, medical, educational, and other required documentation.
Determines admission or denial of applicants and provides referrals to alternative educational or workforce resources as appropriate.
Provides thorough career assessments and counseling during the admissions process.
Serves as a liaison to ensure a smooth and timely enrollment process and early student retention.
Coordinates applicant arrival and pre-arrival activities, including campus tours, pre-arrival visits, and parent meetings.

Student Transition & Placement Services

Establishes supportive and mentoring relationships with students during the Career Transition Phase.
Develops, oversees, monitors, and updates individualized transition plans to support successful post-program outcomes.
Provides personalized career counseling and evaluates student progress and readiness.
Works collaboratively with Career Technical Training (CTT) and Career Transition Readiness (CTR) staff to provide coordinated case management.
Assists students in securing quality placements including employment, military enlistment, higher education, or advanced training.

Partnerships & Outreach

Develops and maintains Center-beneficial partnerships with community agencies, employers, high schools, trade and technical schools, and employment services.
Builds referral pipelines that support both student enrollment and post-training placement opportunities.
Represents the Center in the community to promote the Job Corps program.

Data Integrity, Compliance & Performance

Ensures strict confidentiality of all sensitive student information and maintains data integrity.
Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures; ensures no manipulation of student data.
Supports the Center in meeting or exceeding DOL and Company performance goals.
Produces accurate, timely, and thorough documentation and reports as required.

Supervision & Student Development

May supervise assigned students performing internship or work-based learning duties.
Mentors, monitors, and models College and Career Readiness Skills.
Provides high-quality supervision and support that reinforces a positive Center culture.
Delivers individualized services that address student needs and supports continuous program improvement and innovation.

Professional Responsibilities

Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work to meet established deadlines and performance standards.
Maintains appropriate attendance, accountability, and productivity.
Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Identifies problems, analyzes root causes, recommends solutions, and follows through to resolution.
Works collaboratively across all departments to ensure effective student services.
Accepts direction from the Center Director or designee, including temporary assignment of duties outside the primary role when needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social sciences, communications, or a closely related field from an accredited institution,
OR
Associate's degree in one of the above fields plus two (2) years of related experience working in youth or workforce development programs.
Valid in-state driver's license and ability to meet Company insurability requirements.
