JOB TITLE:            JROTC Assistant Army Instructor (AI)

 

LOCATION:            Yazoo City High School

 

SALARY                  Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP), as determined by U.S. Army Cadet Command  

 

WORKDAYS:           205 Days – 11 Month Employee         

 

REPORT TO             Principal

 

FLSA STATUS:        EXEMPT                    

 

 

 

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

The JROTC Assistant Army Instructor is responsible for assisting the Senior Army Instructor in with the administration, control, and education of students enrolled in the JROTC program.

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Oversees the entire JROTC program in the building.

Complies with all regulatory guidelines outlined in Cadet Command Regulations.

Positively fostering students’ self-esteem.

Working with and understanding a diverse student population.

Integration of leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.

Planning for and guiding the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.

Implementing useful diagnostic and progress assessment measures.

Selecting and using effective instructional methods and learning materials.

Establishing a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.

Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the school’s program and support the District’s vision, mission, and goals.

Integrates the themes of leadership, technology, and communication with a diverse population.

Provides quality work that engages students in learning.

Possesses knowledge of subject matter content.

Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels.

Implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals.

Provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning.

Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management.

Relates to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive and helpful fashion.

Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner.

Participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts.

Adheres to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines.

Submits required reports efficiently, promptly, and accurately.

Inventories classroom materials, textbooks, and equipment.

Accepts the responsibilities of co-curricular and extra-curricular duties as assigned by administration.

Participates in department/grade-level teams, school-level teams, and district-level committees as requested.

Attends school-related functions (e.g. PTA) outside the instructional day.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

Supports the Mississippi Achievement School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan

Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Noncommissioned Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9

Approved by U.S. Army Cadet Command to administer a high school JROTC Program

Proper certification as required by the Mississippi Educator Licensure Department

Appropriate endorsement and/or training for assigned course(s)
