Intern-Mechanical Engineering / Tupelo, MS

This Opportunity is for an Intern-Mechanical Engineering with a work location in Tupelo, MS.

Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. Candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, and customer service-minded. HTG builds custom automated machinery, testing equipment and specialized systems for a variety of industries, including but not limited to Consumer Products, Medical/Life Sciences, Industrial and Government Agencies.


 


Job Duration:


This position is intended for a college engineering student for the duration of a single semester or 2-3 months continuous. Internships are not to exceed ninety (90) consecutive days.


The candidate for the position shall participate in the team-oriented design, development, and testing of a wide range of mechanical equipment and integrated systems for both industrial and military applications. Interns will rotate through different departments working with a variety of disciplines to learn skills valuable to HTG. This process will make the intern familiar with HTG products and processes. Specific duties of the job may include, but certainly would not be limited to the following:


Essential job duties:



  • Mechanical design of automated machinery (components and assemblies) using SolidWorks

  • Working within a collaborative team environment

  • Interfacing with project leaders and the customer

  • Production 2D drawings and BOMs for component procurement & manufacturing

  • Oversight and troubleshooting / debug during machine assembly

  • Creation of documentation packages (user manuals, set-up & maintenance procedure)

  • Other duties as assigned


Required skills:



  • 3D Solid Modeling (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Mechanical detailing and checking

  • Microsoft Office suite products

  • Excellent problem-solving ability

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Technical writing

  • Possible Travel 5%


Other non-required skills:



  • Project management

  • Robotic systems design and integration

  • Manufacturing methods and machine shop practices including additive machining


Required education:


Pursuit of degree in Mechanical Engineering


Physical Requirements:



  • Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.

  • Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Duties will also require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting light to moderately heavy objects.


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Vetting Risk Operations Center (VROC), handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
