Description:

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

• Supervision and monitoring  of the implementation of the curriculum weekly

• Provide training pre-service training to classroom staff annually 

• Assist in the orientation of new classroom staff within the first two weeks

• Provide in-service training to classroom staff monthly 

• Provide Training and Technical (T&TA) on an ongoing bases

• Monitor the screening process within the first 30 days of school year and continue weekly.

• Monitor the assessment process during the prescribed schedule to ensure each child is assessed 

• Provide T&TA and monitoring in setting up the learning environments prior to children's first day of school and weekly during center visits  

• Monitor all children’s education information printed and automated weekly

• Conduct Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observations at least 3 times a year 

• Assist classroom staff in designing developmentally appropriate lesson plans (individual and group) and activities weekly and ongoing 

• Assist in coaching the classroom staff with teaching practices and instructional strategies on a weekly basis 

• Ensure that all classrooms have age-appropriate supplies and equipment annually. 

• Work collaboratively with the local education agencies (LEA) to ensure a smooth transition between the next learning environment as prescribed by the agreement. 

 Health and Safety

• Monitor the classroom environment for safety practices, i.e., covered outlet, sharp edges, accessible exit windows, chemicals out of children’s reach, etc., during weekly visits to centers. 

• Monitor for the supervision of all children at all times weekly during visits to centers  

• Monitor playgrounds for age-appropriate equipment and supervision practices during weekly visits to centers 

• Monitor the hand washing procedures and practices for the children during weekly visits to centers 

       Child Development - Health

• Monitor tooth brushing practices and procedures during weekly visit to centers  

• Monitor for 45-day compliance screenings within the first 30 days of school and weekly throughout   

• In collaboration with the Regional Content Generalist, monitor the  diagnosis, follow up, and treatment of 45-day screeners  

• Participate in the health advisory quarterly   

       Child Development – Nutrition

• Monitor meal service to ensure compliance with Family Style dining during visits to centers   

• Ensure classroom nutrition experiences are taking place monthly  

• Keep classroom staff abreast of all children in the classroom on special diets or have food allergies during visit to centers   

       Child Development – Disabilities

• Monitor the screening process of all children who are suspected of having a disability for timely referral and follow-up monthly   

• Work with the local education agencies to ensure the evaluation process is done in a timely manner and appropriate documentation is maintained to ensure 60 days compliance for evaluation and 30 days for IEP development   

• Ensure parents and appropriate staff are kept informed and available for IFSP/IEP meetings 

• Monitoring the reinforcement of IEP goals and objectives within the classroom lessons and progress during visits to centers   

• Ensure all accommodations, modified/adapted equipment and supplies are purchased and distributed for those in need based on IEP -  Monthly  

• Work collaboratively with the Regional Content Generalists and local education agencies for representation at meetings regarding disability services -  Scheduled by LEA 

Child Development – Mental Health

• Monitoring screening process of all children who have behavior concerns for timely referral and observations within the first 30 days of school and weekly throughout   

• Work collaboratively with the mental health professional to ensure classroom staff receive support with children who have challenging behaviors   

• Ensure classroom staff are implementing the intervention strategies recommended by the mental health professional during visits to centers    

Parent Family and Community Engagement

• Monitoring the home visit process to ensure compliance and support parents in their child’s education twice during the program year     

• Monitoring the parent conference process to ensure compliance and collaborating with parents regarding children’s progress and developmental needs twice during the year and as needed   

Record Keeping and Reporting

• Monitor the automated system for children's assessment and progress at least three times during the program year   

• Track follow-ups and treatments of referrals, IFSPs, IEPs, and health services that may hinder the child’s development monthly.   

• Track the children's education services for compliance monthly.   

• Submit a monthly status report of routine monitoring with corrections and recommendations monthly through the Management Suite   

• Enter CLASS observations result in the ChildPlus System three times during the program year

 

 

Location: Natchez, MS 

 

 

Requirements:

· Master’s degree preferred in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education with minimum of 6 classes (18 hours) with ECE/ECD primary focus and at least three years demonstrated related experience with age groups of 8 weeks to 4 years through employment or practicum, in a pre-school educational environment; OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education with minimum of 6 classes (18 hours) with ECE/ECD primary focus and at least five years demonstrated related experience with age groups of 8 weeks to 4 years through employment or practicum, in a pre-school educational environment.

· Intermediate to advanced computer skills, Internet, and email.

· Current enrollment in the Mississippi Department of Health Child Care Division-Criminal History/ Background Registry

· Valid Mississippi Driver’s license and access to transportation.
