Contract Days: 225 Days

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Hold a valid Mississippi Educator License with a 486 endorsement code in Educational Leadership (Required)

Master’s Degree (or higher) in Educational Leadership (Required)

Minimum of five years of successful Lead Experience (Required)

Supervision experience at the secondary level (Preferred)

District Office Leadership Experience (Preferred)

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Madison County Schools seeks an outstanding educational school leader for the position of Assistant Superintendent to assist the Superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services throughout the District.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

 

Provide leadership and direction to ensure that all schools achieve high academic performance. Facilitates meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. (e.g. personnel actions, financial procedures, regulatory requirements, actions involving outside agencies, inter-district needs, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative.

Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools and make appropriate recommendations.

Provide leadership, support, and direction for Principals and their leadership teams.

Understand the Board policies, communicate guidelines inherent in those policies, and oversee implementation of those policies.

Manage and support implementation of the District initiatives related to the operation of the schools.

Establish priorities and set measureable goals for achievement by schools.

Assist Principals with ensuring that school improvement plans are aligned to the needs of the schools.

Assist Principals with responding to issues, problems, and concerns at the school sites.

Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, counseling, assignments, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel, and achieving objectives within budget.

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent may assign from time to time.

Ability to use computer technology in administrative and educational settings.

Excellent human relations skills

 

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:

 

Seeks opportunities for personal and professional growth that align with the District’s beliefs, vision, and mission and assigned job function.

Provides counsel to the Superintendent and other central office educators in the design and delivery of professional learning opportunities for District faculty and staff based on identified needs.

Attends and is visible at campus, District, and community functions to support the efforts of students, staff, and patrons.

Attends all meetings of the Madison County Board of Education.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
