QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Mississippi Psychometry license.

REPORTS TO: Director of the Office of Exceptional Child Education

JOB GOAL: Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Exceptional Child Education, to conduct psychological assessments for students to determine eligibility in compliance with the Mississippi Department of Education’s State Board Policy 7219 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The program’s psychometrist will be responsible for organizing records, creating written psychological reports, scheduling eligibility conferences, monitoring program compliance with state regulations, and providing ongoing support and professional development for SPED program staff.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
1. Provides sound test results and interpretations that lead to improved programming in SPED education.
2. Works with the SPED supervisor and those whom he/she supervises to articulate and promote the school system’s vision of learning and teaching.
3. Uses student data to identify program needs.
4. Develops goals, objectives, programs, and operations that are consistent with district vision and mission.
5. Organizes daily, monthly, and yearly schedules to facilitate learning and teaching in the schools.
6. Communicates high expectations in the SPED education program.
7. Uses innovative ideas to support learning and provides training to teachers and staff.
8. Engages in self-directed learning regarding the latest research in psychological and educational testing regarding eligibility, the evaluation process, and disability categories.
9. Develops district-wide programs and schedules for testing.
10. Serves as a liaison between the school district and community agencies in support of special education.
11. Serves as an interpreter of test results to parents, teachers, and other personnel regarding the evaluation of students in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
12. Serves as a member of the District Support Team.
13. Conducts psychological and educational evaluations, as directed by immediate supervisor.
14. Collects all data necessary to complete eligibility.
15. Compiles and organizes data for submission to the Local Survey Committee.
16. Maintains confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and IDEA.
17. Understands and utilizes technology effectively, such as databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
18. Performs other tasks, as assigned by the OECE Director and other administrators, as designated by the Superintendent.
19. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
20. Supports the Meridian Public School District Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary based on assigned pay schedule, reporting 197 days per year.
