Hospital Distribution Technician

Description:

Vitalant is seeking a

 Your impact as a Hospital Distribution Technician is vital. You will support Vitalant’s life-saving mission by managing the inventory of blood and blood products and facilitate the packaging and shipment to local hospitals and patients. Whether you are just starting your career, or new to the blood banking industry, we’re here to train, mentor and help you grow.  


What to Expect 


Schedule: M-F 12-8:30 pm, but will need to be flexible to cover weekend shifts as needed if someone is off. Will know ahead of time. Once fully trained, paid on-call rotation is typically 2 nights per week. Training occurs Mon - Fri 8am - 430pm for the first 5 weeks.

As a Hospital Distribution Technician you’ll get to: 



  • Receive, prepare, and ship routing, ASAP and STAT orders of blood and blood products, conducting a visual inspection of each product prior to shipment to ensure order accuracy. 

  • Professionally and safely deliver products to Vitalant customers in company vehicle. 

  • Communicate with customers regarding order fulfilment, turnaround times, and product availability. 

  • Maintain accurate hospital service records for transactions and process fees. 

  • Monitor all storage requirements, service equipment and vehicle work areas. 


Requirements




  • High School diploma or GED required 

  • Valid in-state driver's license required

  • Six months of high level customer service experience required 

  • Prior healthcare industry experience preferred 

  • Able to lift 40lbs
