Business Office Director


  • Primary responsibilities are to plan, organize, and direct all functions of the Business Office including billers, referrals, and patient registration for a 16 bed PPS Hospital, Assisted Living, Home Health, RHC, Outpatient Rehab and a 110 bed Nursing Home. Responsibilities also include administering programs for patient accounting, insurance processing, credit systems, collection and government reimbursement programs.  


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



    • Perform month end closing and ensure timely/accurate reporting

    • Perform all billing, including Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance and Co-Insurance and follow up with claims until payment is received

    • Recruit, select and orientate team members for the Business Office

    • Monitor payments and charges to resident accounts

    • Maintain files in current software system with the CFO

    • Provide accurate information as needed for audits, cost reports, and any other reports or audits as requested

    • Ensure compliance with established policies, State licensure and other regulatory standards

    • Resolve internal and external complaints relating to the Business Office and Front Desk

    • Oversee functions related to Accounts Receivable

    • Supervision of the Business Office

    • Provide expectations and monitor performance of Business Office staff

    • Maintain a positive working relationship with vendors, contractors, employees, and auditors

    • Complete continued education and training requirements

    • Ability to work independently, attention to detail, manage multiple duties simultaneously and maintain a positive attitude

    • Knowledge of medical insurance, hospital billing and collection process

    • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills 

    • Ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping by the Business Office staff


    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



    • BS in Business Administration/Healthcare Administration or related field

    • Previous Supervisory experience required

    • Excellent computer skill (Word, Excel and Google Docs)

    • EMR experience required

    • Eclinical Works, CPSI, PCC experience helpful

    • 5 Years of healthcare business functions experience

    • Years of experience can be substituted for degree
