ACCOUNTANT 1
ACCOUNTANT I QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business. Master's degree preferred
• At least three to five years’ experience in public school accounting, accounts payable, accounts                        receivables, purchasing, or payroll                                               
• Experience with Marathon accounting software preferred
• Ability to interpret and explain detailed financial information and regulations

REPORTS TO:
Assistant Business Manager and Executive Director of Business Services
SUPERVISES/SUPPORTS:
School Level Bookkeepers, Department level support personnel
JOB SUMMARY:
The basic function of this position is to assist in the coordinated effort to administer adequate and efficient accounting controls to the fiscal affairs of the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
GENERAL
•Helps to process all incoming correspondence and telephone calls as instructed
•Keep abreast of all methods and procedures of the department
•Processes all incoming receivables and distributes to appropriate schools and departments.

ACCOUNTANT
•Advises supervisor on all accounting and accounts receivable related matters.
•Assists with account coding and maintains proper bookkeeping for all accounts.
•Prepare monthly expenditure reports.
•Prepares year-end project closeouts.
•Assists in preparing records for audits and any other reporting as needed by supervisor.
•Prepare journal entries.
•Reconciles bank statements.
•Performs monthly bank account and insurance reconciliations
•Reconcile fixed assets general ledger to the balance sheet
• Reconcile credit card and credit accounts.

STUDENT ACTIVITY MANAGER
• Monitors and supervises day-to-day school activity funds; conducts audits, annually
• Updates budgets in Marathon accounting software package.

SCHOOL-BASED ADMINISTRATIVE CLAIMS REPORTING
• Assists with reporting payroll and benefits into SBAC system quarterly.
•Acts as a backup for Payroll and Accounts Payable managers

MARATHON AND ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEMS
Acts as administrator, trainer, and support for Marathon and My School Bucks
