The position requires a self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency to deliver key project milestones, operating independently with limited guidance.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Handle projects and tasks under the general direction of the Sr. Engineering Manager SPD & PMO
- Provide ongoing design support of existing products by resolving design issues for customers, manufacturing, supply chain, and compliance.
- Support design projects to meet cost reduction targets through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and sourcing strategy implementation.
- Support design projects to enhance our manufacturing strategy, including reducing downtime and improving assembly throughput.
- Contribute to identification and evaluation of alternatives by recommending evaluation methods and criteria, formulating relevant opinions/solutions, and identifying short/long term risks involved in each solution.
- Assure functional acceptability through application of engineering tools, analysis, and testing.
- Document specifications and achieve product technical, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and design direction to CAD Analysts.
- Act as a primary onsite engineer to support the Hattiesburg, Mississippi residential generator production line including assembly & test.
- Execute SPD & VAVE projects.
- Reports to: Sr. Engineering Manager SPD & PMO
- Frequent contact with business unit senior or executive management on technical matters and in providing progress reports.
- Frequent contact with New Product and Sustaining Product Engineers, CAD Design Analysts, Lab Technicians, and Manufacturing Personnel.
- Frequent contact with the Service concerning field failure and remedies.
- Frequent contact with Purchasing pertaining to vendor specifications and prices.
- Frequent contact with Manufacturing Engineering to establish methods and tooling.
- Occasional contact with Domestic and International Sales and Marketing on technical data.
- Occasional contact with Legal Department regarding Company policy, patent application, or lawsuits.
- Moderate contact with Production Planning, Purchase Parts, Inspection, and Receiving Department on prototype and production parts.
- External Business Relationships: Frequent contact with component manufacturers to select parts and materials, work out engineering details, and verify parameters.
- Maintain membership in professional associations, attend seminars, and trade shows designed to develop and improve personal skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience working in an engineering field.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems/controls.
- Knowledge of any of the following a plus: SmartSheet, SAP, CREO & Windchill.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with capability of documenting problem solving process and data used to make decisions.
- A broad base of power system industry knowledge including common methods of wiring, grounding, and industry accepted control topologies and communication techniques a plus.
- A good general understanding of air-cooled dual fuel engines & residential standby generators a plus.
- An ability to comprehend the applicable regulatory standards.

The Salary range for this position is $89,800.00-$114,100.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
