Major Functions:
Responsible to manage assigned group of drivers; Maintain accountability for the safe operation and mechanical condition of assigned school buses to include performing preventive and corrective maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain a safe school transportation fleet.
• Supervise and assist bus drivers and bus aides.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of your own professional mechanics tools and equipment.
• Protect and maintain any tools and equipment furnished by Desoto County Schools.
• Report to the director any unsafe practices or violations of state transportation laws.
• Work cooperatively with all DCS personnel.
• Comply with all DCS policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all school records.
• Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Transportation Director, Assistant Director, Service Operations Manager or Superintendent.
• Be consistently responsible-maintaining regular punctual attendance and timely completion of assigned duties, working assigned days and using sick and personal leave appropriately
Minimum Qualifications: Fleet Manager I:
Meet all qualifications of a DCS Bus Driver.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Good moral character and emotional stability.
• Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with P and S endorsements.
• Possess a valid bus card certifying completion of Mississippi school bus driver’s training course.
• Submit to a successful background check.
• Submit to successful pre-employment, annual and random drug screenings
• Obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate of a completed DOT physical examination.
• Attend DCS bus orientation training.
Have the educational background or demonstrated professional experience to perform assigned tasks.
