Major Functions:
Provide content knowledge, instructional strategies, and resources to instructional staff at a Title I school and/or a School Improvement school in a part-time capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare enhancing instructional material for use by the school instructional staff as well as provide content knowledge, instructional strategies, and resources to school instructional staff, including:
o Exemplary teaching strategies that are aligned to the state-adopted standards;
o Adequate Assessments strategies and best practices;
o Interpretation of formative and summative assessment results.
• Provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovation instructional strategies through various activities such as:
o Coaching sessions;
o Demonstration lessons (with pre- and post-discussion and analysis);
o Study groups;
o Staff meetings; and
o Individual discussions (formal and informal).
• Meet regularly with teachers, academic specialists, and school administrators (formal or informal).
• Utilize student performance data to determine appropriate instructional strategies and resources.
• Obtain prior approval from school administration before distributing written communication and other media.
• Comply with all school board policies and state and federal regulations.
• Demonstrate professional growth.
• Communicate positively with parents, teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate and communicate with district academic specialists.
• Work cooperatively with school faculty and staff.
• Demonstrate command of Standard English, both spoken and written.
• Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics.
• Complete required records and reports promptly and accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all Desoto County Schools ‘records.
• Perform such other task and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor or superintendent.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of three (3) or more years of teaching experience.
• Master’s degree or National Board Teacher Certification preferred.
• Endorsement in the required grade span or academic content area.
