Establish, together with management, the objectives of the area and focus on supporting the objectives of the company observing corporate guidelines and policies. Design, develop, and implement process automation (hardware & software) to improve productivity, quality, equipment performance, and downtime reduction. Evaluate and implement innovative, cost effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems. Develop manufacturing planning, initial tooling requirements and costs, capability requirements, control plans, and assessments, which facilitate the definition and specification of the manufacturing processes. Develop and implement manufacturing flow lines, workstation layouts and organization, and station controls, which optimize value added operations, operating costs, and product / process quality. Integrate closely with various functional team members collaborating while enhancing design for manufacturability and ease of integration to manufacturing facility. Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning. Evaluate the performance of subordinate Team Members. Identify training needs of engineers and ensure a training development plan is in place to ensure their success. Implement and make known the specific requirements of the client to the team. Domestic and international travel required up to 10% annually. Skills requirement: 3 yrs exp. as Industrial, Maintenance, Manufacturing, or Production Eng., or related. 3 yrs in automotive industry, incl. production of automotive interior parts, w/: Reading & interpreting drawings, such as mechanical, electrical, & pneumatic drawings; Interpreting drawing requirements & bills of material, & customer specific reqts; Implementing Lean tools incl 8D, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, PDCA, 5-Whys, Kaizen, CPK (Process Capability index); CMK (Machine Capability Index); Control Plan; APQP; & MSA; Conducting DoEs (Design of Experiments) in processes & interpolating the data; Implementing Poka-Yokes into the processes to minimize or eliminate NOK [Not OK] part escapes to the customer; SAP manufacturing software; Plant layout/process flow as needed for new equipment, new/modified processes, & new/revised products, using both manual & automated drafting techniques; Requirements & procedures for the startup & introduction of new products into the manufacturing process; Conducting time studies & gathering data on production processes to determine machine capacity & line capacity; AutoCad & computer-assisted design software to create the layout of equipment, materials, & workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency; & Generating Equipment Specification w/assigned Cost-Center, accounting orders & equipment manufacturing rates according target CM (Contribution Margin) & Asset plan.
