Position Summary:
The Technology Coordinator is responsible for a technology program that ensures the proper accountability for: technology funds; technology professional development; required technology reports and plans; coordination of technology across all programs; a safe, secure, and fully operable network and data management. The Technology Coordinator shall carry out assigned responsibilities in accordance with federal, state, and local laws according to applicable rules and regulations, and perform all duties as may be assigned to the position by law, by the school superintendent, board of education, local government, and by rules and regulations of the MS State Board of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direction to the District on the selection and purchasing of instructional technology, software, and audio-visual materials
Plan, prepare, and maintain the annual budget for instructional technology, audio-visual and technology center operations
Manage the acquisition, placement, use, maintenance, repair, and security of computers and related equipment throughout the District
Coordinate the ordering and distribution of all technology-related audio-visual materials and software
Work to seek alternate sources of funding
Responsible for coordinating outside funding sources and title grants
Coordinate the installation, repair and maintenance of computer equipment, technology systems and networks
Coordinate the installation, repair and maintenance of telecommunications systems including video, data, internet and distance education
Plan and manage the configuration and timely maintenance of the entire network infrastructure including equipment, servers, PC’s, operating systems and network filtering systems
Maintain an up-to-date inventory list of all computer hardware and software used in the district
Address technical problems that arise related to computer software and hardware
Respond to concerns of parents, students, citizens and staff to increase understanding of policies and practices to keep them informed and involved with school district technology
Develop positive relationships with staff, administrative team, agencies of the community and other educational organizations
Maintain relationships with outside resources for technology services
Perform all other duties as assigned
Minimum Educational Requirements:
Experience as a network administrator
Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent experience with continuing education preferred
At least 3 years of teaching experience using computers and technologies
Demonstrated knowledge of integration of technology in curriculum or job duties
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in administering networks and computer systems
Network platform training or experience
Specific knowledge in areas of design, installation, implementation techniques and administration of school technology
