This position is for a Program Director covering Newton & Lauderdale Counties.
Summary: Mississippi Tobacco-Free Coalition for Newton & Lauderdale Counties Project Director.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties of the Project Director involves multiple aspects, including administrative work; implementing goals and objectives; developing programs and activities; planning, participate in mandatory trainings, scheduling and conducting training for coalition partners; and managing the general operations of the program. The project director will be responsible for building community relationships, developing an advisory board, coordinating quarterly meetings, negotiating communication with newspaper and other media outlets, developing program messaging and public relations campaign, adhere to time frames set by funding agency, collect data and submit to funding agency and will be the primary point of contact for this project. The Project Director will also engage in a networking system with other agencies and organizations and will make monthly reports to the Mississippi State Department of Health, Office of Tobacco Control. This position requires travel within the two counties of Newton & Lauderdale Counties. The Project Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Education and Experience: Above average communications skills (both oral and written). Ability and willingness to use tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts. Ability to “troubleshoot” within agency and policy guidelines.
A Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business administration, public administration, communications, education, social work, counseling or a specialty field related to the functions of the program OR a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the aforementioned areas and/or at least three (3) years’ experience in the area of prevention, supervision, social work or a specialty field related to the functions of the program
