This position is for a Network Security Architect with a public university location in Oxford, MS.
This position supports and maintains the network security infrastructure while serving as the primary contact for network based security technology. The incumbent provides technical leadership in the deployment and maintenance of network security, plans and executes complex network security projects, and provides enterprise network support. This position reports to the Manager of Network Administration.
Provides technical leadership and maintains network security.
Installs, configures and supports legacy and next generation firewall implementations.
Configures and supports security information and event management systems.
Supports intrusion detection and prevention systems.
Plans and executes network security projects.
Designs security solutions to address known security vulnerabilities.
Evaluates campus network architectures and designs security improvements.
Provides enterprise network support.
Creates and implements security improvements for network services such as DNS and VPN.
Installs, configures and supports routing, switching, Wi-Fi, DHCP and DNS platforms for the campus enterprise network.
Develops and documents procedures for the installation and maintenance of network security services and equipment.
Troubleshoots network configuration anomalies.
Manages and organizes network security log information.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring Department.
1. Provides technical leadership in the deployment and maintenance of network security.
2. Plans and executes complex network security projects.
3. Provides enterprise network support
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field from a college or university.
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
